It’s been 9 years since the investment plan of the Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation was officially decided in the beginning of 2008. The process of constructing the factory was filled with setbacks, but with the perseverance spirit of Ha Tinh Steel Corporation, the first blast furnace ran smoothly after the trial run on May 29th, 2017, and the steel products it produced has gradually won high reputation in the market. By the end of April, 2018, all preparation for the trial run of the second blast furnace was completed. 

On May 11th, 2018, in the trans-department review meeting chaired by Trần Hồng Hà, head of the Ministry of Resources and Environment of Vietnam, all review committee members agreed that the test values of the emission test of waste water, exhaust gas and wastes of Ha Tinh Steel Corporation all met the legal criterion, and the processing technologies also meet various specifications, and all committee members agreed that the second blast furnace already conformed to relevant laws and regulations of environmental protection, and could be put in a trial run, which greatly encouraged all members of the Ha Tinh Steel Corporation. 

After the ignition of the first blast furnace of the Ha Tinh Steel Corporation, we spared no effort in the improvement of production abnormalities, improvement of processing technologies, implementing maintenance work and strengthening environmental monitoring. Members of the team stuck to their posts before the ignition of the second blast furnace, and kept on examining and checking, eliminating all possible harms. It’s because they kept the experience of the past in their minds and became more cautious and conscientious in management that the second blast furnace was successfully opened and soon reached the standards. At the same time, the strategy of having local talents was implemented, the corporation has been actively cultivating local talents of steel industry, and Vietnamese employees already account for 90% of the 7500 employees of the corporation. The sales performance of the steel products produced by the steel corporation in 2017 was also quite satisfactory, with the sales volume reaching $850 million and praises continuously coming from the market. It is estimated that the total production of iron melt of the two blast furnaces will reach 5 million tons, the sales of steel products will reach 4.65 million metric tons, with an annual turnover of $2.5 billion, and the contribution to the GDP of Vietnam will rise to 1.27%, which was 0.45% in 2017.
